What is Mibaru Beach Like?
Mibaru Beach is located in Tamagusuku, Nanjo City, in southern Okinawa. Unlike tourist beaches that are heavily developed, Mibaru offers a simple and relaxed vibe. The beach stretches for about 2 km with soft white sand, and the water clarity is so impressive that it will take your breath away.
Because of this peaceful atmosphere, it’s loved not only by locals but also by travelers who prefer quiet destinations.
Mibaru Beach: Perfect Stop on a Road Trip
Since it’s only about 40 minutes by car from Naha Airport, Mibaru Beach is easy to reach on a road trip. There’s a paid parking lot near the beach with space for about 30 cars, so parking is hassle-free.
The beach is open year-round. Swimming season runs from late April to September, with designated swimming hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
No entrance fee is required — you can enjoy it freely!
Mibaru Beach: Convenient Facilities Available
Inside the beach area, you’ll find the Mibaru Marine Center, which has all the basic facilities you might need:

Showers and changing rooms are only available from May through September, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.
The water is shallow and calm, making it safe even for children and older visitors.
However, since this is a natural beach, there are no lifeguards or jellyfish nets, so be cautious.
The Highlight of Mibaru Beach: The Glass-Bottom Boat
One of the main reasons Mibaru Beach is so popular is its famous glass-bottom boat experience — a testament to just how clear the water is. Through the boat’s glass floor, you can admire a natural aquarium full of coral reefs and colorful tropical fish.
Reservations aren’t necessary. Boats depart whenever enough passengers are ready, so it’s easy to join at any time.
Snorkeling is also available. Rent a mask and fins to explore the underwater world yourself.
In summer, during low tide, a sandbar (reef) emerges about 1 km offshore, allowing you to walk out and observe marine life up close — a unique natural experience!
