Can I book regions outside Okinawa (Fukuoka, Hokkaido, etc.) the same way?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every region can be compared and booked from the same search page.

Are winter rentals in Hokkaido and Tohoku ready for snowy roads?

Accepted Answer

In winter (roughly November to March), cars in these regions usually come with studless winter tyres, but 4WD may need to be selected as an option depending on the plan.
Check the equipment and options in the plan details before booking, and allow extra time if you are not used to driving on snow.

Which airport do I pick up from on Miyakojima and Ishigaki?

Accepted Answer

On Miyakojima, there are plans with pickup at Miyako Airport or Shimojishima Airport.
On Ishigaki, pickup is usually at New Ishigaki Airport, and some companies offer free airport shuttles or pickup near the ferry terminal.

What should I prepare when renting a car?

To drive in Japan, you must have one of the following driver's licenses:
1) A Japanese driver's license
2) An International Driving Permit (IDP) based on the Convention on Road Traffic (Geneva Convention) (※1)
3) A foreign driver's license for operating a motor vehicle (※2)
※1 Driving with an International Driving Permit (IDP):

The International driving permit must conform to the format specified by the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic.

*The international driving permit is valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance; it can be used to drive in Japan for one (1) year from the date of entry to Japan (checked against the date of entry listed in your passport).

When renting a car, you must present both your "International Driving Permit" and "passport." Please check the validity of your IDP, its validity period for driving in Japan, and the vehicle categories you are permitted to drive.

※2 Driving with a foreign driver's license and a Japanese translation:
You can drive in Japan for one year after your arrival by possessing a foreign driver's license accompanied by a Japanese translation.
You must present the license, the Japanese translation of the license, and your passport simultaneously.
The Japanese translation must be issued by a consulate of the country that issued the license or by an organization designated by the National Public Safety Commission.
※ This applies to driver's licenses from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan.

I can’t cancel my reservation on the confirmation page.

Accepted Answer

If your reservation date is more than 180 days (approximately 6 months) away, our current payment system may not support automatic refunds. As a result, cancellation through the reservation confirmation page may not be possible.
This is a measure to enhance security and ensure payment stability, and we ask for your understanding regarding system limitations on long-term reservations.
In this case, we can assist you with a refund via bank transfer through our customer service center. Please note that a remittance fee may apply.

If the time is outside the rental car company's opening hours, the rental car will be available from the next day.
