Main-island marine activities (Kerama, Blue Cave, Chatan) peak April to October . April, July, and September–October give the best balance, avoiding rainy season (May–Jun) and typhoons (Aug). Ishigaki and Miyako have warm water from March and extend through November. Whale watching is a January to March winter special.

What happens if it rains?

Marine activities are decided by wind and waves, not rain . If waves are calm, tours run in the rain. Cancellations are decided the morning of, and mean full refund or reschedule . During typhoon season, build in some itinerary buffer.
