This 3-night, 4-day itinerary is perfect for first-time visitors to Osaka, combining Osaka's must-see attractions with the highlights of Kyoto and Nara.
From Kansai International Airport, take the train to Rinku Town, then explore Namba, Shinsaibashi-suji, and Dotonbori to experience the vibrant atmosphere of Osaka.
TIP. In the evening, we recommend trying Osaka's famous local specialties, such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki, in the Dotonbori area.
On the second day, pick up your rental car and head to Arashiyama to enjoy the peaceful scenery of the bamboo grove, followed by Kyoto's iconic attractions including Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, Sannenzaka, and Ninenzaka.
TIP. Kyoto can get very crowded, so visiting Arashiyama in the morning is recommended for a more relaxed experience.
On the third day, experience Japanese history and culture at Nara Park and Todai-ji before returning to Osaka to visit Osaka Castle and Shinsekai. In the evening, enjoy the Osaka night view from the Tsutenkaku observation deck.
On the final day, enjoy local food and shopping at Kuromon Market, explore Den Den Town, and then head to the airport. Even with a short schedule, this itinerary allows you to experience the major highlights of Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara in a balanced and efficient way.
