The single mistake most first-time visitors make is choosing the wrong parking lot<\/strong>. If you’re here for the ruins, aim for the East Gate (Higashi-guchi)<\/strong>. Yoshinogari Historical Park preserves the largest known moated Yayoi-period settlement in Japan \u2014 a walk-through reconstruction of a fortified village from the era just before the country we now call Japan came into being.<\/p>\n

The East Gate is Yoshinogari’s main entrance<\/strong>. Official capacity is about 540 standard cars, 80 large vehicles, and 8 accessible spaces.<\/p>\n

Right at the gate is the Historical Park Center<\/strong>, which houses ticketing, the “Revived Yayoi City” mini-theater (about 12 minutes), the information desk, a roughly 100-seat restaurant, and the souvenir shop. First-time visitors and anyone focused on the ruins should start here.<\/p>\n

The headline exhibit \u2014 the moated settlement zone<\/strong> with its full-scale Yayoi village \u2014 is easiest to reach from the East Gate. Climbing the watchtower for a view over the reconstructed village is the moment most visitors remember.<\/p>\n
